I am so excited this morning to receive an email from Vital.ly with some awesome new studies suggesting Curcumin plays a key role in assisting with anxiety and depression ⠀
⠀
Read more about how and why below 👇🏻⠀
⠀
💫 Given that depression is generally associated with inflammation and oxidative stress, the beneficial effects of curcumin in the pathophysiology of depression and anxiety are largely to do with its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. ⠀
⠀
✨ Other biological effects of curcumin involve its effect on serotonin and dopamine release, in the inhibition of monoamine oxidase (MAO) and in the regulation of hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. ⠀
⠀
⚡️Curcumin increased brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) compared with placebo treatment in depressed patients, suggesting that curcumins' antidepressant activity is mediated via the HPA axis and BDNF signalling pathway, which are often dysregulated in people with mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. ⠀

🌝 If you are taking any prescriptive medicines , always make sure you’re checking with your practitioner before supplementing with herbs. It’s a very common misconception that “natural” products can’t interact as they’re “only herbal” and I hear this all too much! ⠀
