Mood Disorders and Diagnostic Tools

Hey Guys, ⠀

Lately I have been using a very cool tool in clinic .. it’s called the Mood Disorder Appraisal (MDA) ⠀

The Mood Disorder Appraisal (MDA) is available for registered health practitioners as an in clinic resource for helping us determine potential chemical imbalances in our patients. ⠀

It was specifically designed as a tool to help practitioners identify which neurotransmitter pathways may benefit from support using nutritional and herbal medicine to positively influence specific neurotransmitter levels. ⠀

The Mood Disorder appraisal can be conducted via a consultation with myself at no extra cost and if needed we can even send away for further extensive testing for an additional fee. ⠀

Serotonin- Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter synthesised in serotonergic neurons in the central nervous system (CNS) and enterochromaffin cells of the gastrointestinal tract.⠀

Dopamine - Dopamine is an excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitter synthesized in many areas of the brain.⠀

Noradrenaline and Adrenaline - Noradrenaline (norepinephrine) and adrenaline (epinephrine) are excitatory neurotransmitters as well as hormones.⠀

GABA - GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is an amino acid that functions as an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain.⠀

Glutamate - Glutamate is a major mediator of excitatory signals in the brain and is involved in most aspects of normal brain function including cognition, memory and learning.
